Getting your suitcase and wash bag sorted for your holiday is a mammoth task, but you also need to get yourself in top tip fashion ready to lap up those rays!
Follow our 2-week guide to prepping your hair and skin, in time for your trip.
Holiday Hair Colouring
A couple of weeks before you go away is the perfect time to tackle those tresses. If you plan to be in the pool on holiday, having it dyed a fortnight before is the best option. This gives your hair time to rest before it comes into contact with chlorine.
If you have any re-growth (or pesky greys) then pop to your hairdresser or grab a box of (VG fave) Nice'N Easy Root Touch Up
If you’re short on time or don’t think your roots are that bad (yet) then a brilliant must have is L’Oreal’s retouch instant root concealer spray! The mini bottle is travel friendly, so you can pop in a cosmetic pouch and take with you on your holiday.
TOP TIP - If you like highlights, then get them a few shades darker than normal because the sun will lighten your hair anyway.
Spruce Up Those Feet for the Beach!
When sandal season is upon us, it’s time to sort out the feet. Follow our 3-step routine to silky smooth skin.
- After a shower when your feet are at their softest, use a pumice stone to scrub away any dead skin cells.
- Use a foot scrub (or make your own with granulated sugar and some lemon juice) and rub into trouble areas, such as the heels and balls of the feet. Leave on for a couple of minutes and then wash off.
- Massage foot cream into the skin, not forgetting to get in between the toes! Pop some socks on and leave for a few hours for maximum effect. Voila!

Hair Removal to Prepare you for the Pool
Getting those pins ready for sunbathing is an important pre-holiday task. Start by exfoliating with a body scrub and mitt to remove dry skin. Now it’s time to de-hair. Whether you are a shaver, waxer or like a hair removal cream, removing hair after exfoliating helps you achieve a smoother finish.
Body oil is a great product! It moisturises your skin and gives that celeb glow we all want. The Body Shop have a great range that smell good enough to eat.
If you are a fan of fake tan, then now if the time to start building up some colour before you head off on your trip.
Pretty Holiday Nails
2 or 3 days before your holiday is the optimum time to give your nails a makeover.
There are so many great high street gel nail polishes, there’s no need to head to the salon. Nails Inc. Gel Effect Nail Polish is long-lasting and in a range of beautiful glossy and professional looking shades, there’s something for everyone.
Pop your chosen nail polish, a nail file and some hand cream in one of our makeup bags, in case you need to re-touch whilst you’re away.
Polka Dot Makeup Bag - £6
Now is the time to have a haircut as well. A trim is really important before going away somewhere hot. Sun, sea and chlorine is very drying for our hair, so getting rid of any split ends before you go on holiday helps keep your locks in tip top condition.
Freshen Up with a Rejuvinating Facial
As well as any last-minute packing and making sure you’ve got the passports ready, the night before your holiday is a great time to give your face some TLC. Cleansing the skin to get rid of any dirt and impurities and boost your hydration is important before spending time in the sun, which dries out our skin. Making sure your moisturisation levels are topped up is creating the blank canvas ready to get that golden glow.
If you want to really treat yourself and you’ve got some spare time, then get a facial. Find a treatment that is specifically designed to hydrate as well as being deep cleaning.
